Help an Ag Student & Have Your Say
We have received an interesting email from Methuen Morgan, a University of New England student, asking for our assistance with his project A Look at Farming Practices and Attitudes towards Climate Change within the Australian Rural Sector . Please seriously consider contributing as to date it appears the vast majority of the replies have been from men. It is important to ensure the female perspective is represented and, as an organisation, we have a culture of assisting agricultural students. Methuen emailed:"The survey takes about 20-30 minutes to complete. It looks at farming practices, attitudes and beliefs towards issues such as climate change, the environment and the trustworthiness of governments and regulatory bodies by Australian farmers. Your contribution is completely voluntary and anonymous. While approximately sixty percent of the Australian landmass is under the stewardship of Australian farmers, our views, attitudes, beliefs and practices are not well understood. Policy makers and indeed the media tend to lump our community into one anonymous group and it may appear that this attitude is reflected in a seemingly one size fits all approach to rural policy implementation. The survey is attempting to investigate pro-environmental behaviours, perceived trustworthiness of authorities and attitudes to climate change, attachment to property/land, attitudes to the general environment, and the time perspective of Australian Farmers… this is a survey by a farmer investigating other farmers attitudes and behaviours." If you have any concerns or questions you can contact Methuen on This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or on his mobile 0429 192 087. The results of this survey may assist policy development and provide an insight into the cognitive profiles of today’s agricultural practitioners.
